A novel dual band array for MIMO applications at 1766 and 2450 MHz is presented. The array consists of four patch elements placed on a 125 × 75 mm2 device. The effect of different orientation and element placement is discussed and the final array is analyzed with respect to antenna covariance calculated from measured radiation patterns. We conclude that the array differs from an ideal monopole array by a 1.3 dB lower radiation efficiency.
