X-band gyroklystron amplifiers may find use as drivers for particle accelerators. For this purpose it is necessary to have good phase control between the input and output of each amplifier. Here phase measurements have been made on a 4 · 5 GHz 50 kW pulsed gyroklystron amplifier. Phase jitter between input and output was less than 1° when operating with 40 dB gain. This is considered sufficient for accelerator drivers.
