The microscopic magnetic properties of MnSi have been investigated in the magnetically ordered state using the transient NMR technique. The distribution of the resonance frequencies of both 55 Mn and 55 Si, the external field dependence of the resonances and the magnitude of the enhancements of the driving rf field were studied in detail. From these results it is shown that MnSi has a helical spin structure at zero field as indicated by previous neutron and NMR experiments. The magnetization process is interpreted as one proceeding through helical to conical to ferromagnetic transitions. The external field dependence of the nuclear relaxation rates are also discussed.
