Plasma levels of acid phosphatase, ß-glucuronidase, LAP, LDH and GPT were investigated by fluorometric methods in dogs given a single pharmacologic dose of the synthetic glucocorticoid 11ß17αdihydroxy-3,-20-dioxo 21-N/N’-methylpiperazinyl/ l,4-pregnadien hydrochloride during haemorrhagic shock. It was found that the levels of acid phosphatase, LAP, LDH and GPT were significantly lower at certain times in the treated groups as compared to the control group. As for the mechanism of these effects improved circulation and/or a direct membrane stabilizing effect due to the steroid is suggested.
