Although it contains no electron-withrawing substituents and is not a 14π electron system, 1 can be reduced astonishingly easily. In the solid state, ribbons formed via SN contacts are present which are coupled by further SN interactions to give a three-dimensional network. As an excellent electron acceptor, 1 could be suitable for the synthesis of novel organic conductors.
