The occurrence of two such diseases in the same patient raises the question, is there any possible relationship between the two disorders? The occurrence of cirrhosis and the existence of hepatic insufficiency in patients with chronic ulcerative colitis are by no means unknown. Comfort, Bargen and Morlock1in 1938 called attention to this association in a report of four cases. Tumen, Monaghan and Jobb2in 1947 described five patients who exhibited hepatic cirrhosis as a complication of chronic ulcerative colitis....Bibliography1.
