Exercise thallium-201 scintigraphy was utilized to define the extent of jeopardised myocardium based on perfusion defects in patients with severe left anterior descending artery disease.
Why the study?
Does exercise thallium-201 imaging assess the extent of jeopardised myocardium in patients with severe left anterior descending disease?

Does exercise thallium-201 imaging assess the extent of jeopardised myocardium in patients with severe left anterior descending disease?
Exercise thallium-201 imaging can be used to define the extent of jeopardised myocardium in patients with severe LAD disease based on perfusion defects.
Supports exercise thallium-201 scintigraphy to assess jeopardized myocardium in severe LAD disease; hypothesis-generating, needs prospective validation.
In this study we attempted to examine the extent of jeopardised myocardium in patients with severe left anterior descending disease. The jeopardised myocardium was defined by the number of perfusion defects in the distribution of the left anterior descending artery depicted on exercise thallium- 201 images. One segment in each of the three projections was considered to represent the distribution of this vessel, that is the anterolateral segments in the anterior projection, the anteroseptal segment in the left anterior oblique projection, and the anterior segment in the lateral projection.

Hakki et al. (1981) conducted an observational in Severe left anterior descending artery disease. Exercise thallium-201 scintigraphy was evaluated on Extent of jeopardised myocardium (number of perfusion defects). Exercise thallium-201 scintigraphy was utilized to define the extent of jeopardised myocardium based on perfusion defects in patients with severe left anterior descending artery disease.
