The method reported in literature for the synthesis of 3-butyn-1-ol involves the reaction of sodium1–7 or lithium8 acetylide with ethylene oxide. It needs liquid ammonia, dry ice and a rather long contact time. Moreover, yield is not consistent: 15–45%9.
