The localization and distribution of neutron activated radioactive gold in the long bones and knee joints of mice was determined autoradiographically following treatment of animals with gold thioglucose and thiomalate. Gold was found 1 or 2 months later at the surface of the synovium, the osteogenic layer of the perichondrial periosteum, reticuloendothelial cells of the marrow and osteogenic cells along the surface of the metaphyseal trabeculae and secondary centers of ossification. Gold was not seen in cartilage.
