Inner and outer analytic solutions are merged to obtain accurate simple results for main pole driven thin-film heads for perpendicular recording. The variation of the pole tip potential as a function of spacing and the distribution of total flux in the permeable sublayer are derived. The computed frequency response and spacing losses for double-layered media are compared with experimental data from a CoCr sputtered disc.
