Weaponry analysis reveals design features of a combat sabre in the Duchy of Warsaw, suggesting domestic production during the Napoleonic era.
The history of the army of the Duchy of Warsaw has been the subject of numerous studies, including museum and weaponry studies relating to the weapons and equipment used by Polish soldiers at the time. However, little is known about its domestic production. This applies, among other things, to the sabres used by the cavalry. The description of a recently identified light cavalry combat sabre, which could be made or adapted in one of the factories in the Duchy of Warsaw, may shed new light on the nature of this production and the designs adopted in these factories.
