Regional analysis reveals heterogeneous industrial robot adoption across manufacturing sectors, suggesting organizational density metrics improve tracking of subnational automation goals.
The article examines the issues of measuring industrial robotics in Russia from the point of view of the achievability of national development goals in this area. An assessment was made of the contribution of production factors, such as changes in the industrial robot fleet and personnel dynamics, to indicators of robotic density. A new indicator of organizational robotics density is proposed as the ratio of the amount of robotics used to the number of manufacturing organizations. Calculations were made of traditional and introduced indicators of robotic density for Russian oblasts. It is shown that the distribution of robotics is extremely heterogeneous and is largely determined by the level of technological development, the institutional environment, the sectoral structure of the economy and the size of enterprises. It has been established that in Russian conditions, the indicator of organizational robotics density more accurately identifies the industry-specific distribution of robotics at the oblast level.
