The permeabiJities to hydrogen of natural rubber, Perbunan, Neoprene G, Vistanex, Thiokol Dx, and Pliofilm diminished in the ord' er of mention. The increase in rate of p ermeation with increasing temperature was exponential in all cases. Values for the activation energies of permeability for hydrogen were found to be 6,800 cal/mole for natural rubber and 8,400 to 9,500 cal/mole for the synthetic materials. The greater magnitude of the energy requirements of the latter indicates that their lower permeability may be attributed to differences in their molecular structure.
