Hybrid optoelectronic bistability is achieved in a CdS single crystal by bleaching an alternating photocurrent by a continuous wave optical bias. The bistability is revealed by exploitation of lock-in technique. Since the device operates at extremely low electric fields (2 V cm −1 ), highly sensitive optoelectronic links and hybrid survey applications are feasible with the introduced device concept.
