The ferroelectric dispersion of ammonium sulphate (AS) in the microwave region is studied. The dispersion is well described by a monodispersive Debye relaxation with a Curie-Weiss law Cp/(T — T0) for the dispersion step and a linear critical slowing down of the relaxation frequency fε. At the phase transition fε comes down to 23 GHz. The results are in agreement with the ferrielectric structure of AS and are discussed in terms of the coupled oscillator-relaxator model.
