The magnetic-electron Compton profile of ferromagnetic polycrystalline Fe is investigated by using circularly polarized 129.5-keV {γ} rays from oriented ¹²⁹ᵐIr nuclei. In comparison with the band-theoretical magnetic-electron Compton profiles determined by means of the augmented-plane-wave or the linear combination of atomic orbitals methods, the experimental profile has a more negatively polarized momentum component around pz=0 a.u. than do the theoretical ones, and a more positively polarized component above 5 a.u. The magnetic-electron Compton profile of ferrimagnetic polycrystalline Mn ferrite is measured for the first time. The observed profile resembles the Fe profile and also has a shallow dip around pz=0.
