This case report describes the autopsy findings of a rare primary pericardial rhabdomyosarcoma encasing the heart and great vessels.
Alerts clinicians to rare pericardial rhabdomyosarcoma encasement; leaves open antemortem diagnosis and management strategies.
An autopsy case of possible primary pericardial rhabdomyosarcoma is reported. The heart and the great vessels were encased completely by a dense layer of the tumorous tissue, obliterating the pericardial cavity. The endocardium was intact throughout. A few small areas of metastases were detected in two perigastric lymph nodes and the liver.
