In hard type‐II superconductors flux lines may overcome pinning obstacles by plastical flow of the flux‐line lattice around the pinning centres. The conditions for this process to occur are investigated. The results for the volume pinning force obey a scaling law and show a specific dependence on the anisotropy of the pinning obstacles and on the Ginsburg‐Landau parameter.
