Magnetic susceptibilities of R Mn2O5 where R=Sm, Tb, Ho, and Lu have been measured between 1.4 and 300°K in magnetic fields up to 15.3 kOe. A high magnetic anisotropy has been found in TbMn2O5 and HoMn2O5. The anisotropy of TbMn2O5 was explained in terms of two closely spaced singlets of the ground state of Tb3+.
