The past decade has seen an explosive interest in the thermoelectric performance of SnSe, as the pristine SnSe crystal exhibits an exceptionally high ZT value. The works from worldwide research groups continuously elevate the performance of SnSe crystal and polycrystalline at every aspect. This perspective attempts to visualize the roadmap for the development routine and breakthroughs of SnSe thermoelectrics. The roadmap starts from the beginning of the pristine SnSe crystal. We then map all the representative thermoelectric performance and milestone findings of SnSe-based compounds in the past decade, ending with the possible future of SnSe from materials, devices, and applications.
