Infrared magneto‐reflectivity data for n‐PbSe are analysed and interpreted using a frequency‐dependent momentum relaxation time of free electrons. A peculiar variation of the relaxation time with frequency suggests a dissipation mechanism consisting in short‐wavelength plasmon generation.
