The calculation of activity interaction coefficients of elements in metal melt with the solubility data by logarithm formulation and the solubility equation was theoretically analyzed. Formulae for the calculation of the interaction coefficients of 2nd order for the solubility equation were derived. Calculation with the experimental data of Mn-Ca-Cr and Mn-Ca-AI systems by both ways of evaluation was made. It has been found that the values obtained from both ways of evaluation are quite different, although of the same order of magnitude. Causes for this inconsistency and the anomaly shown by the Mn-Ca-AI system were discussed. Finally, the conversion between the interaction coefficients at constant activity and those at constant concentration in connection with the use of Wagner's formulism, was emphasized.
