Hydroxyapatite nanoribbon spherulites have been successfully synthesized, with the bioactive eggshell membrane as directing template and in the presence of ethylenediamine, in a one‐step reaction under mild conditions. The spherulites are about 2.5 μm in diameter and the extended nanoribbon about 1.1 μm long. The spherulites were modified with fluorescein to obtain a fluorescent probe material with strong luminescence. (© Wiley‐VCH Verlag GmbH & Co. KGaA, 69451 Weinheim, Germany, 2005)
