We describe here a method that allows an easy elimination of benzene and aromatic hydrocarbons that occur in technical hexane, in order to get an adequate solvent for ultra‐violet absorption spectroscopy. The purification is based upon simple chemical treatment and separation of the reaction products by distillation in a column filled with activated charcoal instead of using the common rectification column Yield: 85 to 90%.
