1 21-year-old male with dyspnea on exertion (NYHA class 2), left atrial myxoma (60x38 mm) arising from the base of the left atrial appendage, severe eccentric mitral regurgitation, and severe left ventricular dysfunction (LVEF 29%).

Intervention

Complete surgical excision of the tumor along with left atrial appendage and mitral valve repair (posterior segment suture annuloplasty).

Outcome

Postoperative clinical and echocardiographic status (mitral regurgitation severity, residual mass, and symptoms).

Surgical excision and mitral valve repair successfully treated a rare case of left atrial myxoma arising from the base of the left atrial appendage that caused severe mitral regurgitation.
