Conceptual analysis demonstrates how technological convergence alters human agency, suggesting artificial intelligence integration fundamentally reshapes identity and moral continuity.
Humanity may be approaching a unique and fundamental transition. Economic strain and political instability are beginning to interact. Demographic change and accelerating technology are adding to this pressure. For the purposes of this work, this situation will be termed the Transition Convergence. It does not point to one inevitable future. This transition changes the conditions in which the future will be developed. The central question is not simply whether machines will become more intelligent. It is whether our growing integration with artificial intelligence changes the structure of human experience, identity and agency. That threshold is the Seldon singularity. Any new form of consciousness that emerges beyond it must still answer a human-related question. Does it preserve human agency and dignity? Does it preserve memory and moral continuity with the people from whom it came?
