Addition of AgClO 4 to trans-[Pt(CCR) 2 (PMe 2 Ph) 2 ] (R = Bu t , H) gives 1:1 adducts of the general formula trans-[PtAg(ClO 4 )(µ-CCR) 2 (PMe 2 Ph) 2 ] which are cyclic dimers when R = Bu t (ClO 4 - not coordinated) or linear polymers when R = H (ClO 4 - coordinated to silver).
