Reaction of the bis-bidentate ligand bis{3-(2-pyridyl)pyrazol-1-yl}dihydroborate (L - ) with cobalt(II) or nickel(II) salts results in formation of complexes [M 8 L 12 X]X 3 (X = ClO 4 , PF 6 ), which have a cyclic structure with one anion encapsulated in the central cavity.
