Summary. 1. A method for the extraction and purification of histaminase and a substance P‐inactivating factor from hog kidneys is described. 2. A complete separation of the two enzymes was achieved by using ion exchange columns (Dowex 50) and a M/150 phosphate buffer (pH 7.1). 3. By this method a satisfactory separation was also attained between the histaminase and inactive protein, giving a further purification of the enzyme of 40 times.
