This study describes the use of the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator and the Murphy-Meisgeier Type Indicator for Children in an urban middle school to examine the impact of personality preferences upon interpersonal communication and understanding in the learning environment. Results indicate that the majority of teachers have different personality preferences than do the majority of the students. Teachers and students who participated in the study report that heightened awareness regarding personality preferences increased the understanding and communication between student and teacher groups.
