Graft copolymerization of butyl acrylate onto gelatin has been carried out using potassium persulphate as initiator both in aqueous and in water‐acetic acid medium. Kinetic parameters like rate of grafting, percent grafting, and grafting efficiency were determined for the two systems. The grafting was proved by IR spectra of the isolated graft chains which showed amide absorption bands characteristic for the amino acids.
