Four trials were conducted, using commercial broiler male chicks, to determine the effect of length of feed restriction time on growth and feed conversion. Data also were collected to determine the effects of feeding restriction time on variability of body weight and the size of the digestive system and its component parts. Growth in broiler males was not adversely affected by limiting the feeding time to as much as 15 minutes in two hours. Feed conversion was consistently improved by limiting feeding time. Variability in body weight was not affected until feeding time was limited to 15 minutes every four hours. The weight of the digestive system was significantly larger for the birds limited in feeding time to 15 minutes every four hours. The weight of the crop and proventriculus contributed the major portion to this increase; gizzard and intestine weights were not affected.
