Results for the magnetic and electronic properties of three artificial, ordered geometries for the Ni-Cu alloys indicate three physical mechanisms which suppress Ni magnetization in the alloys. These are as follows: decreased d character of the states at EF, rounding and loss of structure in the projected Ni density of states, and filling of the d band. These mechanisms are equally applicable to the disordered alloys, and we discuss the modifications introduced by disorder. Results are in good agreement with behavior of the disordered alloys.
