Endovenous laser ablation (EVLA) is an effective treatment for saphenous varicose veins with low recurrence rates. However, there remain some unsolved problems, such as pain, bruising at the thigh and recanalization of the treated vein. To decrease the recurrence and complications after EVLA, it is important to clarify the mechanism of actions during EVLA and develop the new wavelengths of laser and optical fiber.
