Microphase separation of ABA triblock copolymers involves bridging of A domains by B blocks. Consequently, the resulting mesophases can form gels when swollen by selective solvents. These "mesogels" are characterized by anisotropically distributed junctions of high functionality. The swelling equilibrium of mesogels is characterized by distinctive c * theorems. The elastic response of mesogels exhibits novel features, among them asymmetry of compression and stretching and nonaffine character.
