Field theory renormalisation group methods are used to describe the crossover behaviour of the second virial coefficient A 2 of the osmotic pressure for a monodisperse polymer solution as a function of temperature and molecular weight to second order in epsilon =4-d. The results are in significantly better agreement with experiment than previous renormalisation group calculations.
