This paper summarizes the results of observations on the characteristics of waves resulting from steel discs falling into shallow water. The variation of wave height and wave length as a function of distance from the center of disturbance is presented as a function of diameter and weight of disc and height of fail. General information is given on the efficiency of a falling weight as a wave generator.
