A new formula for the characteristic impedance of a non-uniform waveguide is presented. It is developed from the generalized telegraphist's equation in Reiter's form. Examples are given for comparison with Schelkunoff's formula. The VSWK values calculated with the new formula are much closer to the experimental results.
