Disordered PbIn1/2Nb1/2O3 (PIN) single crystals (S = 0.2) were investigated over the temperature range from −243°C to 300°C by means of X-ray diffraction. The diffuse scattering associated with atomic fluctuation was observed around the (3 0 0), (3 2 0), (3 3 0) and (3 3 3) reflection. The directions of the diffuse scattering were parallel to the [1 1 0] and [1 1 0]. The temperature dependence of the integrated intensity of the diffuse scattering around the (3 2 0) and (3 3 3) was measured. With decreasing temperature, the integrated intensity of the diffuse scattering gradually increased. The temperature dependence of the diffuse scattering intensity in PIN was similar to that in PMN.
