An analysis is presented of the velocity and temperature characteristics in the turbulent wake of a heated cylinder with intermittency taken into account. Using the usual eddy transport assumption, the unconditioned velocity characteristics in the far-wake are developed systematically and are then used in the calculation of the intermittency and of the conditioned streamwise velocities, i.e., the average velocities within the turbulent fluid alone. It is shown that if intermittency is taken into account, the usual model for the dissipation in the conservation equation for turbulent kinetic energy must be modified. The unconditioned and conditioned mean temperature and temperature intensity are described. Comparison is made with available experimental data.
