Owing to the refractive index (RI) mismatch between the glass and air, 5% of incident light is lost through reflection at the air/glass interface of solar cell modules. Herein, we obtained a uniform porous layer with the desired nanosized pores as the antireflection (AR) layer on the surface of low iron solar glass by chemical etching in alkali (NaOH) solution. Results showed that broadband transmittance enhancement was obtained. The highest transmittance for the etched glass could be increased from 90.8 to 98.2%. Therefore, a 3.2% increase of the energy conversion efficiency of a solar cell module was achieved.
