A novel blue electroluminescent material, tris(2,3-methyl-8-hydroxyquinoline) aluminum complex (Alm23q3) , was synthesized and used to fabricate a double-layer organic electroluminescent (EL) device as an emitting material. A device made of ITO-coated glass/triphenyldiamine derivative (TPD)/Alm23q3/Mg:Ag was fabricated, which emits bright blue light with a maximum luminance of 5390 cd/m2 at 19 V.
