In two sisters, congenital perceptive deafness was associated with a striking facial appearance and generalized skeletal abnormalities. The main features were hypoplasia of the nasal bones, shortness of the long bones, progressive spinal changes and, in the elder child, carpal fusions. There were no biochemical abnormalities.
