A theoretical investigation is made of the influence of the third-order dispersion effects on the generation of a train of ultrashort pulses in a single-mode fiber waveguide due to a self-modulation instability of a quasimonochromatic wave. When the wavelength of this wave approaches a value corresponding to zero quadratic dispersion, the repetition frequency of the pulses can be increased considerably at a fixed value of the radiation power. The optimal range of modulation frequencies is found allowing for the cubic dispersion.
