Determination of the absolute configuration of this key intermediate in asymmetric metalation/substitution sequences of N-tert-butoxycarbonyl-N-(p-methoxyphenyl)cinnamylamine allows definitive assignment of the stereochemical course of its electrophile-dependent substitution reactions.
