Detecting labile acid–base interactions at low temperature: synthesis and x-ray structure of the ternary titanium tetrachloride–sulphur dioxide–arene systems

Reaction of SO2 solutions of TiCl4 with benzene and durene led to the isolation at –60°C of structurally defined very labile complexes, [(TiCl4)2(σ-OSO)2(C6R6)2] containing a biphilic SO2.
