Gene analysis of blast resistance indicated that Toride 2 bred by transferring resistance from the Indian variety CO.25 to the Japanese variety Norin 8 carries two genes, Pi-zt and Pi-a. The former gene is the same as that found in Toride 1 which has been bred by introducing resistance of the Indian variety TKM. 1 into Norin 8.
