The West Pakistani rice variety, Pusur, was genetically analysed for its resistance to the blast fungus The results showed that this variety included at least three genes. Two of them were respectively determine to be Pi-a and a gene allelic to the gene Pi-k. This new allele was named as Pi-kp.
