The optical transmission through oil-dispersed colloidal molybdenum disulphide has been investigated in a magnetic field at two different wavelengths. The experimental results show that the optical transmission strongly depends on the state of polarization of incident light. The results are interpreted in terms of the contribution due to magnetic dipole radiation in addition to that due to electric dipole.
