S-Carboxymethylated calf thymus histone III was hydrolyzed with chymotrypsin, and a number of pure peptides were isolated. These peptides provided many overlaps with tryptic peptides, completed portions of the sequence not obtained earlier, and served to confirm other parts of the sequence.
